ROBOSAURUS! Feeling the heat...
The Royal Easter Show isn’t just all about cows and baby chickens. The stadium evening show involves stunt horse riding, precision car driving, wild motor cross, a car crushing robot and all topped with a spectacular fireworks display!
At first glance, from an audio point of view this seems pretty simple, a few music tracks, a few sound effects and a radio mic or two, but in reality the show is quite complex and fast paced, with multiple channels of wireless and cabled mic’s, CD players instant replay machines and time code along with quite a few sends to In Ear Monitors, onstage and backstage monitors, comms to producers and others.
The console of choice for this job is the Yamaha M7, the touch screen making it fast to navigate to the different layers in use, yet the layout of the M7 makes it very easy to mix on, and you can get to what you need to easily. Communications between the director, the commentators and the performers on the field flows smoothly right up to and including the Grand Finale job for the night... firing off the time code for the fireworks!
